This morning, forces of the interim government in Syria allowed transport buses and passengers to travel to and from the North and East Syria region toward the country’s interior along the Tabqa–Athriya route.

The interim government had closed this road on October 5 without providing any justification.

According to bus drivers arriving from the Syrian interior, interim-government forces stationed at the Zakkiya junction checkpoint near Athriya in Hama countryside informed them that the road would remain open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with nighttime passage restricted to medical emergencies and critical humanitarian cases.

Despite the reopening, travelers and bus drivers remain concerned due to the absence of any official statement explaining the previous closure or clarifying whether the reopening is permanent or temporary, fearing a repeat of earlier shutdowns.

Meanwhile, the Deir Hafer–Aleppo road has remained closed for more than two months, except for a brief window on November 25 when it was opened for a few hours before interim-government forces blocked it again, affecting thousands of travelers, most of them patients and university students.
