Remains of 18 martyrs transferred from Manbij to Kobani

Today, the remains of 18 fighters from the Manbij Military Council, the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were transferred. They were killed between the liberation of Manbij from ISIS in 2016 and the attacks on the city by Turkish-backed armed groups in 2025.

The martyrs are: Ali Mohammed Amin Al-Afreet, Mohammed Houran, Amir Anbar, Alaa Ahmed Salam (nom de guerre: Jilan Judi), Zahia Barkal Mohammed, Adel Juma Zarif, Abdulrahman Jamal, Abdulrahman Aqili, Farouq Mahmoud Al-Ali, Majd Al-Ali, Mohammed Khalif Al-Khalaf, Mohammed Al-Hamdan, Mahmoud Marai, Mahmoud Youssef Khalifa, Musab Juma Al-Meftah, Rojda Bawer, and Youssef Mohammed Dweiji.

The people of Kobani and the surrounding countryside held a solemn funeral ceremony at the Martyr Dicle Cemetery.

During the ceremony, the deaths of YPJ fighter Farida Walo (nom de guerre: Khamlin Delbrin) and SDF fighter Mahmoud Ali (nom de guerre: Dilovan Piro), who were killed at different times and locations, were also announced.

The ceremony began with a military parade by SDF fighters and YPJ members, followed by a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs.

Delbrin Kobani, a YPJ commander in Kobani, delivered a speech, saying:

"These martyrs refused to accept injustice against their people and gave their lives in sacrifice. To honor their sacrifices, we carry them in our hearts and continue their path of protecting our achievements. The price of freedom and preserving a people's identity is high—it is the lives of their sons and daughters. Without them, we would not have reached this day or achieved these accomplishments."

She added that a people who know struggle and resistance never accept slavery or surrender because they have sons and daughters willing to sacrifice their lives for their people and homeland.

She continued:

"Kobani, which resisted on behalf of the entire world, is once again writing history and teaching lessons in struggle and dignity. These martyrs left their mark on the Kurdish people's struggle and helped defeat what was described as the world's greatest terrorism."

She concluded by pledging:

"We will protect the achievements of our fallen comrades. Our people will never surrender or accept the occupation of their land or the denial of their will. We will always be ready to sacrifice for our homeland and our people."

The ceremony concluded with the reading of the martyrs' records and the presentation of their documents to their families before the remains were laid to rest amid ululations and chants of, "Martyrs are immortal."
