On April 1, 2025, an agreement was concluded regarding the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods between the two neighborhood councils and the Damascus Authority. The agreement includes 14 main clauses, including promoting coexistence, protecting residents, preventing armed manifestations, and organizing internal security. The agreement also includes the formation of committees to implement the provisions and facilitate movement.

One of the main clauses, the release of 147 prisoners from the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), and 97 members of the Damascus Authority, was implemented today.

The location for the prisoner exchange was also designated in front of Al-Shihan Roundabout, located on the outskirts of the Ashrafieh neighborhood, adjacent to the rest of Aleppo.

The exchange ceremony took place amid a large turnout from the people of Aleppo, who chanted slogans preserving the unity of the Syrian people and calling for an end to foreign interference in their affairs.

According to sources from the General Council, this operation represents the first batch, with the second batch expected to take place in the coming days.
