In the aftermath of the bloody events that have taken place in Sweida Governorate in recent days, which resulted in the death and injury of more than 250 people, the Spiritual Leadership of the Druze Unitarian Muslims issued a statement calling for an end to the bloodshed.

The statement affirmed the Spiritual leadership’s welcome of the entry of "Forces from the Ministries of Interior and Defense into the governorate to establish control over security and military centers and secure the city. It called on all armed factions in Sweida to cooperate with these forces and surrender their weapons to the Ministry of Interior without resistance."

The Spiritual leadership also called for direct dialogue with the transitional government to address the repercussions of the events and to work to revitalize state institutions in cooperation with the governorate's qualified people in various fields.

For his part, the commander of the Internal Security Forces in Sweida Governorate, Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Dalati, announced the start of the movement of Interior and Defense Forces forces toward the city center, a move aimed at protecting civilians and restoring stability.

Al-Dalati indicated that a curfew has been imposed on the city's streets, starting at 8:00 a.m. until further notice. He called on residents to remain in their homes and prohibited the use of residential buildings as positions to confront security forces.

Al-Dalati emphasized that religious authorities and leaders of armed factions bear national and humanitarian responsibility for the city's security, calling on them to fully cooperate with official authorities to restore security and ensure the stability of the entire governorate.
