October 9 marks the 28th anniversary of the international plot targeting leader Abdullah Ocalan in 1998, which led to his departure from the Syrian capital, Damascus, before he was abducted from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on February 15, 1999.

Condemning the plot on its 28th anniversary, several residents and families of martyrs in Qamishlo spoke to ANHA agency following a public demonstration held in the city, reaffirming their continued demand for the leader’s freedom and their adherence to his approach.

Aida Khalil, mother of martyr Orhan, said that residents had gathered to demand the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan. She noted that the ongoing plot against him for the past 27 years aims to separate the people from their leader.

She stressed that the Kurdish people will continue to stand and struggle until the leader’s freedom is achieved, rejecting submission to the enemy. She added that the leader is capable of resolving crises, and that residents remain committed to their rights, identity, history, culture, and the sacrifices of their martyrs.

For his part, resident Kamiran Lewend condemned the international plot against the leader, saying that the existence, freedom, and identity of the Kurdish people are linked to the leader’s freedom. He said that those who bet on their annihilation will see their policy fail, stressing that they will remain and continue their struggle, alongside their sons and daughters, to achieve the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan and secure their constitutional rights.

For her part, resident Suad Ahmed stressed that the leader had sacrificed himself for the people, adding that his opponents fear his ideas and books and therefore do not release him. She noted that their participation was intended to condemn the plot, reaffirming their adherence to the leader’s approach and their continued struggle in line with his ideas.

Resident Redwan Rashid, for his part, called for the leader’s freedom, saying that his struggle was not for himself, but for different peoples and communities, including Christians, Kurds, Arabs, Armenians, Circassians, and other groups.

For her part, Yusra Mohammed Sharif, mother of martyr Nesrin, called for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, noting that everyone knows that the key to a solution lies with the leader and that the Kurdish people’s demand is for their leader to be free and among them.

Resident Kohdar Mohammed said that the world had played a role in the plot against the leader, attributing this to his humanitarian ideas and his call for the fraternity of peoples.

He added that the parties behind the plot do not want to establish a shared system among the peoples of the Middle East, but instead seek to impose dominance over countries, particularly over the Kurdish people.

Kohdar Mohammed renewed his condemnation of the plot, expressing hope that leader Abdullah Ocalan’s physical freedom would be achieved as soon as possible.
