The PYD expressed deep concern and regret over the recent tragic events in Suweida province, southern Syria. The party noted that the recent clashes have claimed the lives of dozens of civilians and young people who took up arms to defend their communities against factions it described as "outlawed" and seeking to spread chaos and terror in the region.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party said that the events in Suweida are early signs of a dangerous internal conflict that threatens the Syrian social fabric and could spark a civil war among the people of the same nation.

It held what it called "suspicious parties, war profiteers, and foreign powers" responsible for fueling this conflict. The party called on the transitional government in Damascus to fulfill its national responsibilities in protecting all Syrians without discrimination and to avoid incitement and hate speech that further escalates tensions and sows division among the Syrian people.

The PYD also appealed to all Syrian national and democratic forces to intervene immediately and wisely to stop the bloodshed and prevent the spread of conflict to other areas, emphasizing that the solution lies in moving toward building a pluralistic, decentralized democratic Syria that guarantees rights and freedoms and closes the door to internal conflicts exploited by enemies of the Syrian people.
