Residents gathered in al-Assi Square in Hama, outside the governorate building, while Idlib, Daraa and areas in the countryside of Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and Hassakeh witnessed protest rallies and demonstrations.

Protesters blocked several major roads, including the Gaziantep–Aleppo road near Azaz, the Aleppo–Damascus highway in Maarrat al-Numan, and the road between Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa. Tires were also set on fire in several areas in protest against the price increases.

Protesters in parts of Raqqa countryside called for the energy minister to be removed. Reports also said live ammunition was fired to disperse protesters in the countryside, with no further details reported on possible injuries.

The protests come amid growing anger over the impact of fuel price hikes on transportation and living costs, as calls continue for the decision to be reversed.
