Today, protesters in Sweida demanded the release of kidnapped women and denounced the policy of displacement and destruction that has affected civilians during recent events.

Participants raised slogans calling for liberation from violence and the building of a future based on peace, dignity, and justice.

Maher Al-Halabi, from the town of Tha’la, who returned after being displaced, described the violent attack on civilians’ homes on July 14 as a crime against peaceful residents, calling for a peaceful solution that preserves everyone’s rights.

Ms. Tahani Nawaf Al-Zayla’a from the town of Maf’ala confirmed that the people of Sweida will not remain silent about the kidnapping of women and the disappearance of innocent people, describing what happened as brutal, and stressing their firm attachment to their land and rights.

From the western countryside, Sheikh Abdu Abu Hassoun, from the town of Ajreen, currently residing in a shelter center, said: “We demand to return to our homes before winter after being displaced and having our houses burned. What happened is unbearable.”

Photos of the victims were raised amid chants condemning the unjust war on Sweida, with protesters affirming that they will not back down until all their demands are fully met, foremost among them the recovery of the kidnapped and the safe and dignified return of the displaced.

The protest concluded with a popular call: “No going back, and no peace without justice. We want a dignified life for all the people of this land.”
