Today, families of the detainees staged a protest in the central market of Girkê Legê in the Jazira region, demanding the immediate release of their relatives who have been detained by the Interim Government since mid-January 2026.

Participants raised photos of their detained family members and banners reading: “I want my detained brother,” “I want my detained father,” “Prisoners are the voice of freedom,” and “Our struggle continues until our prisoners are freed.”

Protesters chanted slogans urging the relevant authorities to intervene immediately to secure the release of their loved ones.

The families also called on the Interim Government to reveal the fate of the detainees and release them without delay.

Earlier in March, the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, revealed that around 1,070 civilian and military detainees are being held by the Interim Government following the events that took place between January 6 and the signing of the January 29 agreement.

So far, two groups of detainees have been released, while hundreds remain in custody amid delays by the Interim Government in carrying out further releases.
