protest held by families of prisoners in Tal Tamr for release of their children

This evening, the families of the prisoners held in the city of Tal Tamr held a sit-in on the M4 highway, blocking traffic. During the protest, they called for the immediate release of their children held by the transitional government of Syria.

They carried photos of the prisoners and placards asking for the release of their loved ones, as they shouted slogans emphasizing the need to stop the suffering of the prisoners and their families, and work to try to settle this humanitarian file.

The families of the prisoners stated that their actions were made due to the continuing faltering efforts to close the prisoners' file despite repeated demands for the release of all prisoners, and since the file needs to be solved based on humanitarian aspects away from political and military conflicts.

Also, they requested the intervention of the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to increase their activity and play an important role in following the conditions of the prisoners, and work towards their release to lessen the agony of their families who have been living in uncertainty for many years.

This protest ended up highlighting the necessity of continuing the peaceful movements until the release of all prisoners is realized, while highlighting that solving this problem is considered an important step to reduce the pain of families and build confidence in the region.
