Professors, students of Kobani University affirm commitment to Leader Ocalan’s approach 

The Syrian National Students Union and the Student Council issued a statement regarding the greetings sent by Leader Abdullah Ocalan to the students and staff of the University of Kobani. The statement was read by student Aref Abdo from the University of Kobani, in front of the university building, with the participation of students and professors.

The statement noted that the Kurdish issue has been discussed in Turkey for a long time, and that the current phase began with the call for peace and democratic society launched by Leader Abdullah Ocalan. This call, issued on February 27, was welcomed by many countries and academics. As part of the discussions around this call and efforts to highlight it, the University of Kobani had previously organized a special seminar.

Participating in the seminar online at the time was Omar Ocalan, a parliamentarian from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Parti) representing Riha (Urfa). The statement affirmed that professors, staff, and students who took part in the seminar asked Omar Ocalan to convey their greetings to Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, a family visit was held with Leader Abdullah Ocalan, during which Omar Ocalan conveyed the greetings of the professors, students, and staff of the University of Kobani to him.

In a message conveyed by Omar Ocalan on behalf of Leader Abdullah Ocalan to the University of Kobani, the following was stated:

"Leader Abdullah Ocalan gave great importance and value to the universities in Rojava, considering them fundamental to building the ideas of freedom, equality, and democracy. In confronting capitalist modernity and traditional bureaucratic and academic models, he assigned universities a new mission based on intellectual freedom and creativity. From this perspective, the University of Kobani has been a proud example, achieving significant success through its students and activities."

The statement by the students and professors of the University of Kobani emphasized: "We, the students of the University of Kobani, are proud of the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan. We are honored to have received his message and pledge to uphold it and follow his new intellectual approach. We are indebted to the Leader and the society to which we belong, and we will do all we can in this regard. We also consider ourselves fortunate to live in this era, in which we embody the philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and struggle for freedom based on it."
