Pro-Government Forces continue shelling Tishrin Dam

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) issued a statement today regarding the targeting of the Tishrin Dam by armed groups affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government.

The statement read: “Since this morning, armed groups affiliated with the Damascus government have systematically targeted the Tishrin Dam and its surrounding areas with heavy weaponry, including tanks and field artillery.

Shells directly struck the body of the dam, in addition to workers’ housing and nearby villages, posing a grave threat to civilian lives and placing critical infrastructure at catastrophic risk.

These attacks, taking place at a time when conditions require de-escalation and the safeguarding of essential services, represent a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of ceasefire agreements. Their continuation will only fuel further tension and undermine regional stability.

We hold the Damascus government fully responsible for these violations and the grave consequences that may follow.

We reaffirm our legitimate right to defend our people and our forces against any threat or aggression.”
