Amidst escalating calls for achieving peace and building a democratic society in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey, intellectuals and politicians from the city of Derbasiya expressed their concern regarding the continued isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan. They affirmed that lifting this isolation is a fundamental step towards the success of the peace process and establishing the foundations for coexistence in the region.

In this context, Omar Sheikhmous, a member of the Union of Intellectuals in Derbasiya, stated that the progress of the peace process and the building of a democratic society in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey will lead to positive outcomes for Turkey and the Middle East in general. Therefore, the Turkish authorities must take serious steps toward this process, with lifting the isolation of leader Abdullah Ocalan and granting him physical freedom being among the most important of these steps.

He added: "The aim of continuing the isolation and attempting to weaken the political role of leader Abdullah Ocalan in the process is to undermine the dialogue for peace and to pursue personal interests far removed from the path of peace and democracy in other words, in the manner desired by the authorities."

He emphasized that: "The practical steps taken by leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) demonstrate their seriousness in achieving peace and show the world the Kurds' commitment. However, these steps still await serious steps from the Turkish side to ensure the success of the process."

For his part, Saud Ma'ish, a member of the Democratic Union Party in the city of Derbasiya, said: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan possesses a broad political vision and is constantly developing his policies to lead the region toward a better future. Now, the Turkish authorities are attempting to weaken his political role in the peace process and the building of a democratic society, and to deceive the Kurdish people for another century. This reveals Turkey's intentions to alter what was agreed upon in the peace agreement, with the aim of containing the Kurds within the Turkish nation-state without granting them their rights."

He emphasized that: "Achieving peace and building a democratic society will usher the region into a new era of fraternity and coexistence, and the practical steps taken by Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Kurdish liberation movement aim to build this fraternity."

Ma'ish concluded by saying: "For the process to proceed correctly, Leader Abdullah Ocalan must be granted his physical freedom."
