The People's Will Party in Syria warned of the dangerous developments following the demonstrations held on Tuesday in the Syrian coast and interior, which called for decentralization and an end to kidnappings and killings. These demonstrations were followed by counter-protests that witnessed clashes and chants of a sectarian and inflammatory nature.

In a statement, the party explained that the simultaneous demonstrations and counter-protests, along with the worsening living conditions and the stalled progress on the Sweida file and the dialogue with North and East Syria, reflect the continued deep roots of the Syrian crisis, confirming that "the alternation of power has not changed the nature of the existing economic and political system."

It affirmed that a comprehensive political solution based on UN Security Council Resolutions 2254 and 2799 is the only way to address the crisis, including the formation of a consensual, non-sectarian transitional governing body, working towards a new constitution, and holding free elections in which Syrians determine their own fate.

The party stressed that addressing outstanding issues, including the form of the state and the relationship between centralization and decentralization, can only be achieved through a comprehensive national conference that includes all Syrian forces without exception. It warned that any delay in pursuing a political solution opens the door to foreign intervention, particularly from Israel, exacerbates sectarian polarization, and threatens new cycles of violence.

The statement held "the current regime primarily responsible for the stalled political process due to its reliance on external powers instead of internal Syrian unity."

It concluded by emphasizing that reproducing the division between "regime and opposition" or "majority and minorities" will only serve the interests of warlords, affirming that salvation lies in uniting Syrians based on their shared socio-economic interests, which affect more than 90% of the affected groups from various sects and ethnicities.
