Citizens of Qamishlo spoke to our agency regarding their stance on the “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” issued by Leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 27, and criticized the Turkish authorities for their failure to act in accordance with this phase.

Citizen Shaha Hessari explained that Leader Abdullah Öcalan seeks to establish peace, democracy, and equality globally, and has taken numerous steps aimed at resolving conflicts.

Shaha also highlighted that Leader Öcalan has been held under stringent isolation conditions in Imrali Prison for 27 years. She continued, “Following the leader’s call, the Turkish state claimed it would improve his detention conditions, yet no concrete measures have been taken to date.”

Shaha Hessari asserted that the key to resolving regional issues and securing equality and justice lies with Leader Abdullah Öcalan, affirming their unwavering struggle until his physical freedom is achieved.

Similarly, Aziza Hassan emphasized that the call for peace and a democratic society is not solely for the Kurdish people but for the entire world. She added, “We will resist until the last drop of our blood and continue our struggle in the public squares until the leader’s physical freedom is realized.”

For his part, Omar Yusuf expressed his desire to receive more detailed information regarding Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s condition, stressing the necessity for Turkish authorities to disclose further details. He stated, “We have been trained in the leader’s thought and philosophy, which is a source of pride for us.”

In conclusion, Omar Yusuf underscored the imperative for the Turkish state to honor its promises and respond to the people’s demands by granting physical freedom to the leader.
