French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Wednesday that partners in northeastern Syria should be preserved, stressing "ensuring their rights", and affirming that they are "a very important element in the fight against ISIS".

The French Foreign Minister also called for autonomous administration to be part of political transition in Syria, and indicated that his country is working to reach an agreement between Turkey and the Kurds in northeastern Syria, calling for an immediate cessation of fighting in Manbij and Kobani in Syria.

The French Foreign Minister added that "the new transitional authorities in Syria will not be judged by words, but by actions over time".

Noel Barrow noted that “lifting sanctions and reconstruction aid to Syria must be conditional on clear political and security commitments.”
