On 10th Anniversary, DAA calls for SDF’s integration into new Syrian Army

The statement, released by the DAA on the occasion of the SDF’s 10th founding anniversary, congratulated the fighters, commanders, families of martyrs, and the people of North and East Syria.

The DAA emphasized that the Syrian Democratic Forces played a strategic and decisive role in the territorial defeat of ISIS at a time when many states and powers were unable to achieve this, making great sacrifices in defense of human values, freedom, and dignity.

The statement read as follows:

“On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Democratic Forces — a great national occasion — the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria extends its highest reverence to the souls of the heroic martyrs whose pure blood watered the soil of the homeland. They had the greatest merit in liberating the region from terrorism and ensuring its security and stability. We also extend our warmest congratulations to the families of the martyrs, the fighters and commanders of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and to all our people in North and East Syria on this anniversary that represents a decade of sacrifice and heroism.

The Syrian Democratic Forces were established during one of the most difficult periods experienced by Syria and the region, as global terrorism — represented by ISIS — escalated and threatened all of humanity. From these harsh circumstances, these forces emerged from the sons and daughters of the region, in all their components, as a model of peoples’ unity and solidarity in confronting extremism and terrorism.

The role played by the Syrian Democratic Forces was strategic and decisive in defeating ISIS territorially, at a time when many countries and powers were unable to do so. These forces made tremendous sacrifices in defense of human values, freedom, and dignity — not only for North and East Syria but for humanity as a whole.

Today, after ten years since their founding, the Autonomous Administration affirms that the time has come for the Syrian Democratic Forces to assume their rightful and legitimate place within the new Syrian army — as a national force that protects the country, preserves its unity, and expresses the aspirations of its peoples for democracy, justice, and equality.

In conclusion, the Autonomous Administration once again congratulates the Syrian Democratic Forces, their commanders, fighters, and our people as a whole on this historic occasion, reaffirming its continued support for these forces that have become a guarantor of the region’s stability and a symbol of sacrifice and devotion.”
