In a statement to ANHA Agency, Sheikh Nawaf stressed that leader  Ocalan’s message constitutes “a sincere call to strengthen the values of coexistence and civil peace in Syria,” describing it as “a purposeful piece of advice for the peoples of the region to live in security, stability, and peace.”

“We welcome this message wholeheartedly, regard it as an honorable stance, and will work to unify the Syrian ranks in confronting all those who attempt to undermine the country’s security and stability,” he added.

Drawing on his ten years of experience in Turkey, Sheikh Nawaf accused the Turkish state of deliberately attempting to divert the course of the Syrian revolution, transforming it from a popular uprising against authoritarianism into an ethnic and sectarian conflict.

He said: “Turkey repeatedly sought to ignite conflict among the components of the Syrian people, sowing discord between Arabs and Kurds through both media and military tools. Yet it failed to tear apart the deeply rooted social fabric.”

He underlined that the Arab tribes resisted such efforts, affirming: “Arabs and Kurds have lived side by side for centuries. There is no inherent ethnic conflict between us; those who attempted to create one were only serving external agendas for their own interests.”

The Sheikh went on to describe his own change of perspective toward the Autonomous Administration, explaining that he had once been influenced by hostile propaganda, particularly Turkish narratives.

He said: “I was previously an opponent of the Autonomous Administration due to media disinformation. But after ten years of living in Turkey, I came to realize that the Autonomous Administration is a project of construction and organization, not one of secession or chaos.”

He added: “Since my return to Syria in 2023, I have found that the Autonomous Administration has been working to establish a comprehensive democratic system that embraces all components of Syrian society.”

Sheikh Nawaf also issued a clear message to those seeking to inflame divisions, whether through media or social platforms, declaring: “We categorically reject any attempt to sow discord among the people of this region. We will stand united against anyone who seeks to destabilize our country. We want a unified homeland, free from the diseases of sectarian and ethnic division.”

Sheikh Nawaf appealed to international powers and human rights organizations—foremost among them Amnesty International—to intervene for the release of leader Abdullah Ocalan and all prisoners of conscience and freedom fighters.
