The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that dozens of residents of Andan in northern Aleppo countryside held a protest outside the town’s local council building, demanding the initiation of reconstruction projects for homes destroyed during previous military operations.

Protesters raised banners affirming their right to return and settle, including slogans such as: “Our homes are destroyed, and reconstruction is not a favor but a right for every displaced person,” and “Reconstruction means stability and dignity.” They expressed frustration over continued delays and the neglect of their suffering by the concerned authorities, despite the relative calm that has prevailed in the area for some time.

Participants in the demonstration stressed that the absence of government support for rebuilding infrastructure and residential homes remains a major obstacle to the return of thousands of displaced families to their town. They noted that continued residence in camps or rented housing has increased their financial burdens, amid the deteriorating economic conditions affecting northern Syria.
