Today, Thursday, Netanyahu met with the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, in the village of Julis in the Galilee, at the Druze community’s operations room to follow up on the developments in Sweida.

The meeting comes amid reports of a possible security agreement between Israel and Syria in the coming weeks.

In this context, Yossi Dagan, head of the Northern West Bank Settlements Council, visited the Druze community’s civil command center at Sheikh Tarif’s invitation, calling on the Israeli government to make an official decision to send humanitarian aid to the Druze in Sweida, including food and medicine.

Dagan stated that “the shocking scenes from Sweida recall the events of October 7, 2023,” adding that Israel must take responsibility regarding the “genocide against the Druze.”

Sheikh Tarif, for his part, emphasized the severity of the humanitarian situation in Sweida, saying: “Our brothers in Syria are dying of hunger and lack access to electricity, water, food, and medicine.”

He called on the international community to open a humanitarian corridor to deliver aid, adding: “Just as 300 trucks enter Gaza daily, we need permission to allow some of them to reach our brothers in Syria.”
