The "National Guard Forces" in Swaida issued a statement today marking the first anniversary of the events of July 2025.

The National Guard reaffirmed its commitment to what it described as "protecting the residents and defending the land," stressing that villages currently outside its control "will return." It also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and called for the release of the missing and the return of displaced persons.

The statement noted that this first anniversary arrives amidst ongoing "violations and breaches." It acknowledged that last year's events left "deep wounds" but simultaneously demonstrated the "resilience and steadfastness" of the people of Swaida .

The statement offered condolences to the families of those killed during the July events and expressed solidarity with the families of captives and the forcibly disappeared, as well as with residents displaced from their villages. It emphasized that "the blood of the martyrs, the patience of the captives, and the suffering of the displaced constitute a sacred trust that cannot be squandered."

The National Guard affirmed its continued commitment to "bearing the responsibility of protecting the residents," noting that the trust placed in its forces by the people of Swaida served as a "source of strength in facing challenges." It pledged to press ahead with its duties and the defense of the governorate.

The statement concluded by calling for the release of the missing and the return of displaced persons to their areas, coinciding with the first anniversary of the events that took place in Swaida Governorate on July 13, 2025. Those events resulted in casualties and waves of displacement, and their political and humanitarian repercussions persist to this day.
