Speaking to ANHA agency about the return of displaced residents of Serê Kaniyê and the future of additional convoys, Abdi said around 45 villages have received returning residents. These are villages that have been cleared of remnants of war, while work is still ongoing in some areas. He added that some financial and relief assistance is being provided to returning families with the support of relief organizations operating in the region.

On the remaining displaced residents in camps and schools in Hasakah, Abdi said: “The convoys will continue in the coming days and will be completed within a short period. We can transport two or three convoys each week, given the short distance between the two cities.”

On concerns among displaced residents about threats and attacks in the city center and possible solutions, Abdi said: “The lists of people registered for return convoys to their homes in Serê Kaniyê/Ras al-Ain are submitted to the security authorities, which review the lists and address any problems if they exist. Following that, approval is given for their transportation.”

Regarding those occupying the homes of displaced residents of Serê Kaniyê, Abdi said: “A large number of them have returned to the neighborhoods of Hasakah, such as Ghweiran, through voluntary returns following an increase in security forces.”

The second group of displaced residents from Serê Kaniyê departed for their villages on 8 August, carrying around 700 families.
