In one of the villages affiliated with the occupied city of Jindires in Afrin, a woman was subjected to a violent attack by mercenaries of the Turkish occupation. Late last week, they attacked her grocery store located near her home in the late hours of the night, firing bullets at the storefront and destroying its contents with a hammer.

The victim, who shared details of the incident with ANHA Agency, confirmed that she and her husband had returned to the area after the fall of the previous regime, only to find their home occupied by settlers. Despite their attempts to reclaim their rights, the settlers refused to leave, which led to her husband suffering a heart attack that claimed his life. He was buried in the local cemetery. After months of persistence, the woman managed to reclaim her home and grocery store, but she soon faced repeated harassment and threats from the mercenaries, who demanded money in exchange for allowing her to stay. In their latest assault, the armed men deliberately terrorized her at night by firing shots and vandalizing her property. Unable to defend herself or even speak out, the victim, who preferred to remain anonymous, decided to leave the town the following day, heading to the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo. She vowed not to return until the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries completely withdraw from Afrin.

This incident is just one example of a series of systematic violations perpetrated by the Turkish occupation’s mercenaries in Afrin, including killings, abductions, extortion, and ongoing assaults, amid a complete absence of accountability or legal oversight. It is worth noting that this month, the region witnessed the murder of a young man, Mustafa Sheikho, from the village of Haj Hassano, preceded by a similar crime in March of the previous year, when the child Ahmed Khaled Mada was killed by the Turkish occupation’s mercenaries.
