The Media Department of DAANES issued a statement to public opinion on the martyrdom of journalist "Sharvan Sido (Aked Roj)", who was martyred in the Turkish occupation's targeting of a civilian gathering on the Tishreen Dam yesterday, condemning the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries against journalists and media professionals in the NE Syria, which it reads:

"The historical resistance shown by the Syrian Democratic Forces and our people in the dam has thwarted all the plans and objectives of the Turkish occupation in the region, and to cover up the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, and to hide the defeats it suffers, it directly targets journalists and media professionals who follow and monitor the course of events, especially in the Tishreen Dam.

In continuation of these criminal policies, on February 15, Turkish occupation aircraft targeted our journalist colleague "Sharvan Sido (Agid Roj)" while covering the historical resistance shown by our people in the Tishreen Dam, which resulted in his martyrdom.

We, in the Media Department of DAANES extend our deepest condolences to the family of our colleague "Agid Roj", all journalists and media professionals, and the people in NE Syria, and we strongly condemn these crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, which constitute a violation of all international laws and norms that provide for the protection of journalists and media professionals in times of war, and we also confirm that journalists and media professionals in the NE Syria are aware of the reality of these crimes, which will not deter them from performing their tasks, as they are national and humanitarian tasks. Above all.

In this context, we renew our calls to the international bodies concerned with the protection of journalists to break the barrier of their silence regarding what the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries are committing against journalists and media professionals in the NE Syria.

Mercy to our martyrs, and speedy recovery to our wounded."
