The recent decision of the Turkish authorities, issued today, against the leader Abdullah Ocalan, to ban him from meeting with his family and his lawyer for another three months under the pretext of “disciplinary punishment,” sparked the anger of teachers in the Manbij canton in North and East Syria, who went out in a protest, in which they renewed their demands his physical freedom.

During the protest in which members of the institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Manbij Canton participated, a statement was read on behalf of the Education Authority in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Manbij Canton, by the director of schools in the canton, Nouri al-Hassan.

The statement confirmed that the Turkish authorities are still violating the rights recognized by the United Nations in Geneva, the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners approved in 1957, the International Covenant on Civil, Political and Social Rights, the Convention against Torture approved by the United Nations in 1984, and the set of principles related to the protection of persons. Those subjected to any form of detention or imprisonment (1998), without exception.

The statement considered the recent decision of the Turkish authorities and the silence of international human rights forces and organizations a new violation of international laws and norms, and liquidation procedures that have nothing to do with humanity and human rights.

The statement renewed the demand of teachers in Manbij canton in North and East Syria, to achieve the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and at the same time, it condemned “the Turkish authorities’ violations of the laws, as well as the negative role of the Committee against Torture.”
