The Minister of Economy and Trade in the Lebanese caretaker government, Amin Salam, said that a state of emergency must be declared regarding the Syrian displacement, the National News Agency reported.

The campaigns of harassment and persecution against Syrian refugees in Lebanon have escalated recently, after an official threat by the Lebanese authorities to return them to their country without international coordination, and hate speech against them has become generalized against the majority of the Lebanese and the political forces and parties in the country.

In July 2022, the Lebanese government announced a plan to deport Syrians from Lebanon in coordination with the Damascus government, aiming to return 15,000 Syrians per month to Syria, an average of 180,000 people per year, but the plan did not achieve any results.

During the past year, the Democratic AANES region of Syria expressed, in its roadmap to resolve the Syrian crisis, its readiness to receive all Syrian refugees who wish to return to Syria, specialy in Lebanon.  the Autonomous Administration received more than 50 refugee people who returned from Lebanon to Syria.
