Leaked audio exposes violations of mercenaries in occupied Manbij

A resident of Abu Qalqal, a town located south of Manbij currently under Turkish occupation, has expressed severe distress over the ongoing abuses perpetrated by Turkey-affiliated armed gangs.

The information was conveyed through an audio message sent anonymously to ANHA agency by a local citizen, who chose to remain unnamed due to fears of reprisal. The message stated, “What is falsely referred to as the ‘Free Syrian Army’—in reality, mercenary groups—has taken control of the town of Abu Qalqal. They are preventing the return of displaced residents, confiscating cars and tractors from locals, and, in certain cases, executing individuals outright.”

The recording further underscores the widespread theft occurring in villages and towns under mercenary occupation. Notably, the plundering of “diesel barrels” directly from residents’ homes was highlighted as a particularly pervasive practice.

Turkish forces and their allied mercenaries seized Manbij and its surrounding villages and towns on December 7 of the previous year. Since the occupation began, thousands of shops, homes, and facilities have reportedly been subjected to systematic looting and plundering.
