The Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, alongside the Syrian Lawyers’ Initiative in his defense, launched this month a signature-collection campaign across Syria, as part of the international campaign “I Want to Meet leader Abdullah Ocalan”, initiated by the European Forum for Freedom and Peace on June 5.

In Tirbespiye, Jazira region, the city’s Kurdish, Arab, and Syriac communities expressed their full support for the campaign, affirming their deep connection to leader Ocalan’s ideology and demanding his physical freedom.

Anton Malaki, the member of the Syriac component, said: “We support the I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan campaign because he is a remarkable leader. His recent initiative for peace and democracy represents the most suitable solution to the region’s problems. His rightful place is among his people, and we demand the release of all detainees in Turkish occupation prisons.”

From the Arab component, Najah Qasoo emphasized that leader Abdullah Ocalan has contributed significantly to women’s liberation, helping free them from social constraints. She added: “The success of peace and democracy will remain incomplete unless Abdullah Ocalan is freed.”

Hediya Mohammed, representing the Kurdish community, praised Ocalan’s call for peace and democratic society, describing it as a historic step. She said: “Such an initiative can only come from a great leader. Therefore we must see him among us, free and unharmed. The Turkish occupation must respond with tangible steps to ensure the success of this process."
