A Kurdish woman from Marivan in Eastern Kurdistan was shot dead by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in a new crime reflecting the escalating violations against civilians in the region.

Leila Ali Rimayi, a 35-year-old Kurdish woman from Bisaran village and mother of two, was killed by direct gunfire from Iranian Revolutionary Guard members in Marivan, according to the Kurdistan Human Rights Organization.

According to Roj News Agency, the incident occurred in the town of Hajrat, known as Joujsaz, near Marivan. The perpetrator has been identified as Keywan Basami, a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The organization stated that Iranian security forces pressured Leila’s family to prevent them from contacting human rights organizations, adding that family members were subjected to torture and mistreatment following the incident.
