As part of the celebrations for Kurdish Language Day, the Kongra Star issued a statement at Free Women's Square in Kobani city. The statement was read by Majeda Hassoun; the head of the Women's Committee in Kobani, in the presence of dozens of women, members of women's organizations, and female representatives of civil institutions.

The statement congratulated the Kurdish people on May 15th, and stated, "Throughout history, the Kurdish people have been subjected to genocide and destruction. They were deprived of their right to speak in Kurdish."

The statement continued, "We will never accept the erasure of the Kurdish language again. Thousands of young men and women have sacrificed their lives for us to live with our language and culture."

The Kongra Star concluded its statement by affirming, "We will resist until the very last moment to ensure the inclusion of our Kurdish language in the Syrian constitution."

At the end of the statement, the participants chanted the slogan, "No life without language."
