Kongra Star calls for release of captives

The Kongra Star in the city of Dirbasiya issued a statement to the public opinion on Sunday regarding the issue of captives and detainees held by factions of the Syrian Interim Government.

Raghad Shehadeh, the administrator at the Kongra Star, read the statement at the Culture and Art Center, in the presence of representatives from women's civil institutions, councils, and women's movements.

The statement indicated that this step came in response to the positions of the families of prisoners and detainees, who stressed the importance of solidarity and cooperation, particularly concerning detainees and missing persons who served within the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The statement emphasized that the issue of prisoners with disabilities is a paramount humanitarian concern, requiring the guarantee of their psychological and living rights with dignity, and the preservation of their freedom and rights without restrictions. It also stressed that prisoners and the families of martyrs represent symbols of dignity and sacrifice, which necessitates upholding their legal and humanitarian rights and acting with a spirit of collective responsibility towards them.

The Kongra Star called on the concerned parties to pave the way for serious and responsible dialogue, and to seek just solutions that guarantee the rights of prisoners and their families, away from procrastination, concluding its statement with the slogans: "Freedom for the captives" and "Glory and eternity for the martyrs."
