KDP's Barzani, U.S. envoy discuss Syria and regional stability

The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, and the U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, exchanged views on the political situation in the region and the latest developments in Syria.

The office of Masoud Barzani reported that a phone call took place today, Sunday, between him and the U.S. envoy for Syrian affairs, Tom Barrack.

During the call, the two sides exchanged opinions on the regional political situation in general and the recent developments and changes in Syria. They agreed on the necessity of taking all possible steps to prevent tensions, unrest, and fighting, and to work toward establishing peace and stability in the region.

The office added that both sides expressed mutual appreciation for the influential role they have played in achieving peace and stability in the region.

It also noted that, in addition to expressing his appreciation for the U.S. role, Masoud Barzani emphasized the importance of maintaining and continuing the existing alliance between the people of Kurdistan and the United States.
