Kalkan: Leader Ocalan answers everyone with one sentence

Duran Kalkan, a member of the PKK’s executive committee, spoke in a special broadcast on Medya News television, providing an assessment of current issues on the agenda. He highlighted the importance of the global campaign launched for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, stating, “We must develop the global campaign aimed at achieving the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan in a comprehensive and effective way across all fields. We must fight even harder.”

Kalkan’s evaluations of the situation are as follows:

"First and foremost, I salute Leader Abdullah Ocalan with great respect. He held a meeting with his nephew on October 23. After 43 months, this meeting finally took place.

There is a change, although partial. I mean, it’s not a fundamental change, but there is a partial change, of course. We were informed of leader Abdullah Ocalan’s health status and received his greetings, which was enough to shift the situation. Receiving leader Abdullah Ocalan’s greetings, hearing his voice, and being informed about his health had a different impact on the general atmosphere. All democratic forces, women, youth, our people, and our friends are in a state of enthusiasm and excitement, with high morale.

It also strongly affected the political environment, clearly showing leader Abdullah Ocalan's level of influence. Despite all the opposing narratives, it demonstrates the impact leader Ocalan has on society, democratic circles, women, youth, workers, and the politically active. We must emphasize this once again.

On the other hand, this emerged as a result of the struggle. It must be seen as the outcome of the struggle against the international conspiracy that has persisted for 26 years. Imrali represents the struggle against a system of torture, isolation, and genocide. In a narrower sense, it should be seen as a result of the global freedom campaign that began on October 10, 2023.

The struggle brings results

The year-long struggle has taken an important step at the end of its first year, marking the beginning of breaking down the system of torture and extermination. As we previously mentioned, this phase is now moving toward achieving results. Therefore, let us be optimistic about this and fight even more; indeed, this was just the beginning, and the struggle is bringing progress and heading towards success, as we have seen clearly through this outcome.

On this occasion, I congratulate, on behalf of our party, everyone who participated and put effort into the global freedom campaign that has entered its second year for the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the resolution of the Kurdish issue. I salute their struggle.

This phase, which started by moving forward, continues to progress, and we must see and understand this. Our hope, faith, and will should be stronger on this basis.

Leader Abdullah Ocalan answered everyone with a single sentence and adopted a stance that would open up new discussions, which is of great importance. It’s also essential to recognize this. Considering there were calls directed at him, he himself responded, saying he has the theoretical and practical power to bring the Kurdish issue to a legal and political basis. On this basis, it became evident that those who say leader Abdullah Ocalan has no power, that he cannot accomplish anything, that the organization does not listen to him, and that people do not heed him are lying. The leader has shown his strength. Subsequently, our co-chairs, on behalf of our movement and people, announced that it would support all forms of leader Abdullah Ocalan’s struggle and stance.
