The Kongra Star issued a statement regarding the events taking place in the city of Sweida, expressing its "deep concern over the bloody events" that have taken place in the city over the past two days.

The Kongra Star also offered its condolences to the families of the victims, saying: "We pray for the souls of all the martyrs, especially the martyr Fawzia al-Shaarani, who bravely resisted from inside her home, defending her dignity and that of unarmed civilians, against uncontrolled armed factions that have no connection to the legitimate government."

The Kongra Star considered that what is happening today in Sweida reflects the transitional authority's inability to control public discourse, adding, "Public discourse has become fraught with hatred and sectarian and regional incitement against certain segments of the Syrian people."

It held the transitional government in Syria responsible for allowing the growth of "arrogant and provocative rhetoric," as well as for all the direct attacks that result from it, particularly against women.

The Kongra Star condemned in the strongest terms the attack launched by armed groups claiming to represent the region's tribes, and simultaneously called for an urgent and transparent investigation into what happened in Sweida.

In concluding its statement, the conference called on all national forces in Syria to prioritize dialogue and to exercise the voice of reason and national conscience. It also called on the international community to break its silence and take urgent and effective action to pressure the responsible parties to halt the destructive escalation.
