The Iraqi National Security Advisory announced on Sunday the successful transfer of ISIS prisoners from Syria to Iraq following security disturbances and the escape of some prisoners due to attacks launched by factions of the Interim Government on Rojava areas.

Social Affairs Advisor Saeed al-Jiyashi explained that the transfer was carried out to ensure control over the prisoners and their placement in secure and fortified prisons, under the supervision of the Counter-Terrorism Service and the oversight of the Supreme Judicial Council, with the participation of all Iraqi security agencies.

Al-Jiyashi emphasized that the prisoners' stay in Iraq is temporary and that the government will work to return them to their countries of origin after security procedures are finalized, noting that they come from more than 67 countries.
