Iran to sign long-term economic cooperation with Damascus govt

The Acting Iranian President announced that he had sent a draft of the long-term economic cooperation agreement with the Damascus government to Parliament for approval, as this draft law was approved by the Iranian Government Council on June 16 of this year.

 According to the Iranian Mehr Agency, the Acting Iranian President Mohammad Mokhber sent a draft agreement on strategic and long-term economic cooperation between Iran and the Damascus government.

" According to  of Article 77 of the Constitution, the Acting President, Mohammad Mokhber sent a letter to the Speaker of the Shura Council, Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf, including a draft strategic and long-term agreement for economic cooperation between the two countries" the Agency added.

According to Article 77 of the Constitution, any international treaty, agreement, or contract between Iran and other countries or international institutions must be approved by the Shura Council.

Worth to note that the draft law was approved by the government council based on the proposal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development at the meeting on June 16 of this year.

The only article in the draft law on long-term economic cooperation between Iran and the Damascus government consisted of an introduction and 5 articles. According to paragraph 2 of Article 5 of this law, the duration of the agreement is 20 years until Syria fulfills its obligations and pays the outstanding debts.
