In a statement issued today, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces – North and East Syria reaffirmed its full commitment to the principles of unity and Syrian nationalism on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the liberation of Raqqa from ISIS mercenaries.

The statement read: “Today, we commemorate the eighth anniversary of the liberation of Raqqa from the terrorist organization ISIS — a national milestone that embodies the sacrifices of the heroes of the Syrian Democratic Forces who gave their lives and blood in defense of the dignity of the Syrian people and in ending a dark era of terrorism and oppression.”

The Internal Security Forces affirmed that the liberation of Raqqa marked a decisive turning point in the war against terrorism and restored hope to the city’s residents, who actively participated in the liberation battle and were genuine partners in achieving victory and safeguarding security after ISIS’s defeat. This anniversary is a reminder of the value of the martyrs who shed their blood on Raqqa’s soil so that it might return to its people — free, dignified, and secure.

The Internal Security Forces noted that since that historic day of liberation, the city of Raqqa has continued on the path of reconstruction and development. Over the past years, it has witnessed clear progress in public services, infrastructure, education, health, and security.

Today, the people of Raqqa have become the cornerstone of managing their city’s affairs through civil and service institutions, in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces, which continue to carry out their duty to maintain security, stability, and the achievements of liberation.

The Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria reaffirmed their full commitment to the principles of Syrian national unity and to working to strengthen security and stability throughout all regions, guided by the values of justice, equality, and respect for the dignity of all citizens without discrimination. They added: “We renew our pledge to the blood of the martyrs to continue fulfilling our duties with full responsibility and sincerity, to ensure a safe and stable future for our people.”
