Before withdrawing from villages surrounding Kobani, factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government abducted three young men from the Barkal family.

Under the January 29 agreement, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) returned to their barracks from the front lines around Kobani on March 2, and the Syrian Interim Government factions withdrew on March 5.

Informed sources reported that the village of Jakhr, located southeast of Kobani, south of the M4 highway, witnessed a serious incident involving the abduction of three young men from the village on March 4, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

The abducted men are: Ismail Muhammad Haj Barkal (born 1971), Salman Mustafa Haj Barkal (born 1981), and Saleh Muhammad Haj Barkal (born 1988).

Sources stated, "An entity identifying itself as the General Security Directorate abducted them and took them to an unknown location. Their fate remains unknown."

The families of the abductees and the villagers expressed their deep concern over this incident, demanding that the relevant authorities assume their full responsibilities, immediately disclose the fate of the abductees, ensure their safety, and work to release them and return them to their families without delay. They also called upon all human rights, humanitarian, and media organizations to follow up on this case and stand with them to determine the fate of their sons and ensure their safe return.

Prior to the withdrawal of the interim government factions from the countryside of Kobani, they looted 74 villages.
