On the first anniversary of the announcement of the "Peace and Democratic Society" process proposed on February 27, 2025, leader Abdullah Öcalan sent a new message calling for the engagement of all segments of society in stabilizing the situation and creating new opportunities for dialogue.

In this context, ANHA agency conducted several interviews with intellectuals from the city of Tal Tamr to highlight what was stated in the message.

Mohammed Nuri Al-Ahmad, the spokesperson for the Union of Intellectuals of Tal Tamr, said: "The peace initiative proposed by leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 27, 2025, along with the messages transmitted through the parliamentary committee in Turkey, is an important step towards formulating a comprehensive democratic framework to resolve the ongoing issues in Turkey and the region."

He emphasized that leader's latest message is the practical way to end the ongoing violence, especially following the denial policies that forced the PKK into a historically imposed conflict.

He also stressed that the importance of the initiative is evident today with the affirmation of the historical presence of the Kurdish people and their right to political participation, which makes building a stable future based on legal citizenship and respect for the rights of all components the foundation of the peace process, free from narrow nationalistic affiliations.

He added: "As proven by experience, this approach has contributed to reducing tensions inside Syria and enhancing opportunities for dialogue between its components, which gives the initiative even greater weight amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East."

Al-Ahmad emphasized that supporting the peace process today is a national and moral responsibility, and that the vision promoted by leader Ocalan is a practical compass for overcoming the region's crises and achieving lasting democratic stability.

For his part, Idris Yunus, a member of the Tal Tamr intellectuals, stated that despite years of war and tension in the region, the "Peace and Democratic Society" process proposed by leader Ocalan confirms that the opportunity to end violence still exists, and that stability can be achieved through dialogue and political solutions, not through force.

He added: "The leader believes that building people's brotherhood and ensuring the rights of all components, especially the Kurdish people, must be in a legal and democratic framework that preserves citizenship and allows each party to defend its rights through institutions."

Yunus continued: "The movements within the Turkish parliament and the steps to communicate with leader Ocalan create a real basis for reviving the peace process. It is the responsibility of intellectuals and all segments of society to support this direction and prevent a return to the cycle of conflict."

He concluded by emphasizing that leader Ocalan's vision shows that the solution to the Kurdish issue in Turkey and the entire region passes through the recognition of rights and political dialogue, especially given the dangerous tensions currently unfolding in the Middle East.
