Intellectuals: Leader Ocalan’s Message opens door to democratic solution in Syria

Intellectuals from the city of Tel Tamer in the Jazira Canton spoke about the message addressed by Leader Abdullah Ocalan on the occasion of the New Year 2026, which carried in its content deep readings of the regional reality, especially with regard to Syria and North and East Syria, at a stage characterized by political complexities and regional and international entanglements.

The intellectual and writer Bushra Al-Issa believed that what distinguishes Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s message is that it linked the stability of North and East Syria with the future of Syria as a whole, affirming that the solution can only be achieved through democracy and recognition of national and religious pluralism.

She explained that the message reaffirmed that the Autonomous Administration is not a secessionist project, but rather a national model that can be generalized within a comprehensive Syrian framework.

She emphasized that modern Syrian history is based on exclusion and denial of the other, noting that the leader’s message restores consideration to the idea of coexistence as a historical option from which there is no escape, and that the democratic proposal presented in the message addresses the roots of the crisis, not merely its manifestations.

For his part, intellectual Idris Al-Younes stated that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s message delved into the depth of the Syrian crisis by linking the political solution to the social structure. He said: “Stability cannot be achieved without democratizing society itself, from women to youth, and from local councils to public institutions.”

He added: “The experience of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria region has contributed to creating a new societal awareness based on participation and shared responsibility.”

On the aspect related to Turkey, Nesreen Al-Saleh, a member of the Union of Intellectuals of Tel Tamer, considered that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s message presented Turkey with two clear choices: either to continue a policy of intervention and confrontation, or to engage in a peace project that guarantees the interests of all. She pointed out that any shift in the Turkish position would positively reflect on the Syrian file as a whole.

She added that the message placed the transitional government in Damascus before a historic entitlement, stressing that a return to centralization will not restore control. She concluded by emphasizing that recognizing the Autonomous Administration does not threaten Syria’s unity, but rather protects it, and that the alternative is a genuine national partnership.
