Hasakah residents: Seeing Leader Abdullah Ocalan was a relief for the region's communities

Communities in Hasakah city affirmed that seeing Leader Abdullah Ocalan today, 26 years later, is a historic day and a relief for all communities in the region at this sensitive stage in the Middle East. They emphasized that his call is in the interest of both Kurds and Turks.

After 26 years of captivity on Imrali Island, Leader Abdullah Ocalan made a video appeal for the first time, as part of the Call for Peace and Democratic Society, which he launched on February 27 of this year. He emphasized that the current phase "urges us to take practical steps. This phase and these steps are of historic importance."

In this context, the people of Hasakah city in al-Jazira Canton expressed their feelings regarding this video appeal and its contents.

Farhan Dawoud, from the al-Nasirah neighborhood, said: "This morning was historic, because we saw Leader Abdullah Ocalan in sound and image after 26 years of suffering in the prisons of the occupying Turkish state. Seeing the leader lifted our morale greatly at these sensitive moments for the region."

Dawoud added: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan's explanation of the historic appeal he launched on February 27, 2025, and his clarification of some of the broad provisions of the agreement, was a relief to all of us."

Dawoud explained: "We hope that the Turkish state will be "Sincerely, I am grateful to Leader Abdullah Ocalan," he continued, "because the changes the Middle East is undergoing are very difficult, and this call is not only for the Kurds but also for the Turks."

For his part, Abdul Ghani Oso, a citizen from al-Salihiyah neighborhood in the city of Hasakah, said: "The region's components have been waiting and hoping for this historic day to see Leader Abdullah Ocalan. We have been greatly concerned about the leader's health for 26 years, and seeing him today has lifted the morale of all components of the region."

Oso noted that "the call issued by Leader Abdullah Ocalan today was a relief to the components of the region, away from weapons, and the beginning of a new phase, the phase of political peace."

Meanwhile, Mohammed Ashraf Ali, a citizen from the Tal Hajar neighborhood, emphasized: "Seeing Leader Abdullah Ocalan among his friends was a good step during this sensitive period that the Middle East and the entire world are going through."

Mohammed Ashraf Ali continued, saying: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan launched a serious initiative and took important steps for the Kurdish and Turkish people, and now it is the state's responsibility to do so." Turkey's commitment to all signed agreements to begin the peace process."

For her part, citizen Huda Mohammad from the Nazareth neighborhood said: "After seeing Leader Abdullah Ocalan this morning, I cannot describe the feelings and joy we are experiencing now. After 26 years of injustice and persecution, we have seen the leader in peace."
