Hasakah Education conducts placement exams to accommodate unregistered students

The Directorate of Education in Hasakah continues to administer placement exams for eighth- and eleventh-grade students in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishlo, as well as in several rural educational complexes. This comes as part of a Ministry of Education plan aimed at accommodating students who have dropped out or were not previously enrolled, enabling them to return to the education system.

Today, the Directorate held placement exams for eighth- and eleventh-grade students, based on an official circular, with the goal of allowing those who discontinued their studies to sit for the Middle Certificate exam and high-school certificate exam after the disruptions the region has experienced.

The Director of Education in Hasakah, Adnan Al-Bari, stated that these exams are part of joint efforts between the Ministry and the local Directorate to support students, reintegrate them into the educational track, and enable them to continue their studies in a structured manner.

The Directorate also conducted placement exams for vocational eleventh-grade students across all specializations. Al-Bari emphasized that this step provides them with the opportunity to sit for the high-school certificate exam after interruptions caused by previous conditions.

Earlier, on March 15, the Directorate held diagnostic placement exams for non-enrolled students in ninth grade and the third year of high-school, as a preliminary step toward integrating them into formal education, with notable turnout and strict organizational measures.

Mohammad Hallak, Director of Educational Supervision at the Ministry of Education, explained that admission to ninth grade and the first, second, and third years of high-school, both scientific and literary branches, is based on a diagnostic test that takes into account the age requirements for each grade, in addition to the necessity of holding a middle school certificate for entry into secondary education.

Hallak added that the placement exams were conducted in seven educational complexes across Al-Hasakah Governorate: Tel Brak, Al-Shaddadi, Markada, Al-Arisha, Al-Hol, Tel Hamis, and Tel Kocher (Al-Yarubiyah). He noted that a total of 10 exam centers were established, comprising 67 examination halls.

He further stated that 1,218 students took the ninth-grade exam, in addition to 13 students in the scientific branch and 14 in the literary branch for the final year of secondary school.

Hallak confirmed that newly enrolled students in the region are not permitted to transfer outside it during the secondary stage, and that second-semester grades will be used as the sole criterion for pass or fail for the 2025–2026 academic year.
