Funeral held for two female martyrs in Derbasiyah

Residents of Derbasiyah and its surrounding villages held a funeral procession for the remains of two female martyrs of the resistance in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, Zilan Kendal and Susan Jekdar, and pledged to follow the path of the martyrs and continue their struggle.

Residents of Derbasiyah and its surrounding villages gathered today at the Martyr Rustem Cudi Shrine in Barkafri village to hold a funeral for the remains of two members of the Internal Security Forces, Yasmin Hussein Suleiman (code name: Zilan Kendal) and Gulnaz Asim Kaso (code name: Susan Jekdar). The two women were killed while taking part in the resistance in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods on January 9.

The funeral ceremony began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Fidan Derbasiyah, an administrator with the Internal Security Forces in Derbasiyah, offered condolences to the families of the two martyrs and said: “Over the years, our forces have written heroic chapters in defending the region and made great sacrifices that helped build an impregnable barrier against occupation attacks.”

Melia Mano, a member of the Kongra Star organization in Zarghan, also offered condolences to the families of the two martyrs and pledged to follow the path of the martyrs and continue their struggle.

The ceremony concluded with the reading of the two martyrdom documents of Zilan Kendal and Susan Jekdar and their handover to their families. The remains were then laid to rest amid ululations and chants of “Martyrs are immortal.”
