To enhance political dialogue and understand the AANES experience, a high-level French delegation visited the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

The French delegation included: Sylvie Jean, Honorary President of the Kurdistan-France Friendship Association; Emilie Luc, City Council Member for the Seine-Saint-Denis district and a member of the Communist Party and left-wing organizations; Michèle Laurent, Director of the International Projects Department; and French journalist Rosa Mousavi of the left-leaning newspaper L'Humanité.

The co-chairs of the Autonomous Administration's Executive Council, Evin Swed and Hussein al-Othman, welcomed the French delegation at the Council's headquarters in Raqqa, where the two sides discussed political and economic developments in Syria in general, and North and East Syria in particular.

Sylvie Jean emphasized that the purpose of the visit was to deepen their understanding of the Autonomous Administration model, which represents a unique experience in pluralistic local governance. She highlighted the importance of the administration's achievements in empowering women, implementing the principle of co-chairing among communities, and post-war reconstruction efforts.

The delegation also discussed ways the international community can support this pioneering experience, given the security and economic challenges facing the region.

It is worth noting that the Kurdistan-France Friendship Association (AFK) is a French organization founded in 2013 in response to the assassination of three Kurdish activists in Paris. The association's goals include strengthening solidarity between the Kurdish and French peoples and raising awareness of the Kurdish issue. It also aims to promote the model of Autonomous Administration and democracy, particularly with regard to women's empowerment and coexistence among communities.
