Jordan’s Northern Military Zone announced today that it had thwarted an attempt by four individuals to infiltrate across the northern border with Syria, after border guard forces spotted them attempting to cross illegally.

In a statement, the Jordanian Armed Forces said that border guard forces handled the situation in accordance with established rules of engagement. They succeeded in apprehending the four individuals—preventing them from crossing the border—and subsequently referred them to the competent authorities for legal proceedings.

The statement did not specify the nationality of the four individuals, their point of origin, or the direction of the attempted infiltration.

Jordan’s northern border with Syria spans approximately 375 kilometers, with the Northern Military Zone responsible for securing sections of this border.
