The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published footage today showing torrents of floodwater sweeping through the streets of Fariyya village in the Afrin countryside, following heavy rainfall that caused significant damage to civilian homes and farmland.

The rainfall coincides with the ongoing influence of a highly active low-pressure system across Syria, expected to persist until Monday morning. The system is accompanied by heavy downpours, thunderstorms, large hail, and strong wind gusts.

The onset of this weather system has already caused material damage in several areas, particularly in southern Syria, where losses have affected public property and agricultural crops due to intense rainfall and resulting floods.
