First conference of Syrian initiative for freedom of leader Ocalan kicks off

The activities of the first conference of the Syrian Initiative were launched at Al-Sharq University in the city of Raqqa, under the slogan (violation of international law in the case of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the right to Justice).

The conference being held today coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as the world celebrates this day every year under a specific slogan determined by the United Nations General Assembly, and this year the theme of the 2023 celebration is: dignity, freedom and justice for all.

Participating in the first conference are political figures from all regions of NE Syria, lawyers from the regions inside Syria from the cities of Homs, Hama, and Latakia, members of the Lawyers Union of NE Syria, and members of the Doctors Union of North and East Syria.

In addition to participation by human rights activists and civil society organizations in NE Syria, members of the Popular Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, tribal sheikhs and notables, members of the Zenobia Women’s Association, members of the Democratic Civil Administration in the cities of Raqqa and Tabqa, and the co-chair of the General Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Farid Atti, and Siham Dawoud, Secretary General of the Future Syria Party.

Lawyers, human rights activists, politicians from Egypt and Greece, and the lawyer of leader Abdullah Ocalan are scheduled to join the conference activities via the Zoom.

The conference activities began with a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs. The conference began its work with a welcoming speech by the co-chair of the Lawyers Union in North and East Syria, Anwar Al-Asr.

The conference includes two sessions, each session consisting of two axes, the first on “Pages about Leadership,” the second on “International Conspiracy and the Sham Trial,” and the second session consisting of two axes, the first on “Imrali System,” delivered by lawyer Khadija Bidiwi, and the second one about the health of leader Ocalan,” delivered by Dr. Mustafa Abdel Karim, and an intervention by Leader Abdullah Ocalan's lawyer, Janet Janis, via the video application about "the isolation system in Imrali and the violations committed in it."

The conference is scheduled to conclude its activities today by reading a final statement.
