Fawza Youssef: Decentralized system ensures Syria's unity

The second conference of the Women's Council of the Municipalities' Union of North and East Syria held under the slogan "Women's Community Efforts Ensure the Building of Democratic Municipalities," with the attendance of 150 delegates, in addition to representatives from the Autonomous Administration and its institutions, the Kongra Star, and political parties. Moreover, the conference is held in Serdem Hall in Hasaka city of Jazira canton.

During the conference, Fawza Youssef, the member of the Democratic Union Party's (PYD) Presidency, highlighted the hate speech promoted by media professionals and journalists affiliated with the Syrian transitional government via virtual communication platforms. She emphasized the need to hold them accountable and to bypass such speeches. She explained that those who adopt this approach are working in favor of foreign agendas.

She confirmed that Syria needs a democratic, decentralized system that preserves and protects the identity of all Syrian components, and said, "A democratic, decentralized state guarantees the unity of Syria and the Syrian people."

Fawza Youssef warned against the implementation of a centralized system in Syria, describing it as a "time bomb" that, if it exploded, would "divide Syria's territory and people."

Fawza Youssef continued by pointing out that the political forces in North and East Syria fully fulfill their responsibilities and adopt peaceful discourse and dialogue to resolve the outstanding issues, emphasizing that "dialogue is the path to a solution."

Fawza Youssef reiterated North and East Syria's readiness to implement the provisions of the March 10th Agreement, noting that the Autonomous Administration has, for two months, announced the readiness of its committees, and called for dialogue with the Interim Government to discuss the outstanding issues and find solutions. However, she clarified that the other side that is not responding to these calls is the Syrian Interim Government.

She affirmed that they are ready and prepared in every way to sit down at the dialogue table with the Syrian Interim Government in Damascus, emphasizing that the location of the meeting is not as important to the Autonomous Administration as reaching solutions to all outstanding Syrian issues. She said, "When we say this, we do so not from a position of weakness, because without dialogue, no solution can be reached, and the option of war means the dispersal of the Syrian people and the division of Syrian territory."

She also affirmed the need for Syrian-Syrian dialogue, using the language of discussion, to reach a solution that serves the Syrian national interest, far from foreign agendas that could lead the country to a societal and political catastrophe that threatens future generations. She added, "No one should serve foreign agendas."

She highlighted the important leadership role of Syrian women, especially those in North and East Syria. She said, "Women must play their role in all forums and platforms."

Fawza Youssef, the member of the Democratic Union Party's (PYD) Presidency, concluded her speech by calling on all Syrian women, especially the women of North and East Syria, to unite their efforts and strive together to block the way for extremist religious policies being perpetuated among Syrians, and to work together to build a democratic political approach within the framework of the Democratic Syrian Republic.
