Fawza Youssef affirms readiness to build pluralistic, inclusive Syria

The event began with a minute of silence, followed by a speech from Fawza Youssef, the member of the joint presidency of the Democratic Union Party.

 She started her speech by saying: “The revolution of North and East Syria was founded on the ideology and philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan, with the participation of all components, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, and Armenians.”

Youssef congratulated the people on the anniversary of the July 19 Revolution, adding: “We bow in respect and honor to the sacrifices of our heroic martyrs who gave their lives so we could live this day in peace and security.”

She emphasized that the revolution restored what was taken from the region’s communities, including their language, culture, and right to live in freedom and peace, stating: “This revolution is one of brotherhood among peoples and the free woman.”

She continued: “They want us to give up all the gains of the North and East Syria revolution, but we have sacrificed thousands of martyrs for its victory.

 We fought ISIS and other extremist groups that wanted us to surrender, but we will never give up.

She added: “We will not allow the imposition of a single language, flag, or culture on our region’s components. As the communities of North and East Syria, we are ready to build a pluralistic Syria that guarantees the rights of all components and sects.”

She noted that the components of North and East Syria will join the future Syria with their languages, cultures, and identities, saying: “Syria remains unstable due to the centralized mindset.”

She continued: “What is happening in Suweida now is a result of this mindset. The Syrian Democratic Forces are the true guarantee of a democratic Syria and the protection of all components of the Syrian people.”

 Fawza Youssef concluded her speech by saying: “If we do not secure our constitutional rights, we will not accept any imposed conditions.” After the speech, Kurdish artist Sharif Omari participated in the celebration, performing a selection of songs.
