The Martyrs' Families Council in Derik city held a ceremony for the families of two martyrs from the Syrian Democratic Forces; Commander Kenjo Kondek (real name Abdullah Ramadan) and fighter Serbest Girê Spî (real name Mohamed Rashid), who were martyred on January 18th on the Raqqa-Tel Abyad road. The ceremony began with holding a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, Suad Mostafa; the member of the Martyrs' Families Council, delivered a speech in which she stated that "the sacrifices of the martyrs are beyond words." She emphasized that loyalty to them lies in "adhering to their will, following in their footsteps, and protect their legacy until their goals are achieved."

Mostafa added, "The martyrs are the true owners of this land, having sacrificed their lives for it." She stressed the necessity of continuing the struggle to preserve the land and rights until the very end.

For his part, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Council's member Mohamed Abdel Rahim affirmed that "the path of the martyrs is the right path," noting that they "sacrificed their blood for their people and to prove their existence and identity."

He added that "the people's existence and rights are protected by the martyrs' sacrifices," pointing out that future generations will realize that the survival and resilience achieved are due to those sacrifices. He called for continuing on their path to achieve their goals of co-existence, peace, and justice.

The mourning ceremony concluded with chants glorifying the martyrs, most notably, "The martyrs are immortal."
